Mercy Flights is delighted to introduce our newest board member, Steve Roe. Steve is general manager of Roe Motors, a Buick and GMC dealership in Grants Pass. Over the past 50 years, he has worked in nearly every department of this second generation, family-owned business. His motto is “a car dealer working to make a positive difference in the community.”
Under Steve’s leadership, Roe Motors earned the 2016 Better Business Bureau “Business of the Year” for Oregon and SW Washington and the Roe family was selected as 2015 Family Business of the Year by Oregon State University Austin School of Business under the “Family Harmony” category.
Since earning the rank of Eagle Scout, Steve has been personally committed to community organizing and contribution. Examples include work with the Chamber of Commerce, Asante Health System board of directors, Rogue Gateway Rotary and Crater Lake Boy Scout Council.
Fun fact about Steve: In 2015, Steve went through with a promise to shave his head when the Roe Motors team met its fundraising goal and raised $15,234 for the Grants Pass Relay for Life. In addition, Roe Motors raised over $4,000 in a 5-hour car wash to benefit the Blue Slide Project for a handicap accessible playground at Parkside School.
Steve has an Automotive Marketing and Accounting degree from Northwood University and a Masters in Management degree from Southern Oregon University. He lives in Grants Pass, Oregon with his wife Kristi (a 1st grade teacher at Allen Dale Elementary) and Hope and Finn, their registered therapy dogs. His two daughters are grown with five grandchildren. Steve enjoys Diamond Lake, reading, computer technology and giving back to others.
We asked Steve to share a few thoughts about Mercy Flights and here’s what he had to say…
What inspired you to join the Mercy Flights board of directors?
I have always been impressed with the mission and work of Mercy Flights. We have a cabin at Diamond Lake and our Mercy Flights membership gives us peace of mind knowing that if we are injured or ill, we can receive prompt and quality medical care no matter our location. I was also impressed to learn about the work of Mercy Flights to provide preventive health care to underserved populations.
What are you most looking forward to in your new role as a board member?
As a Josephine County resident, I look forward to providing a wider regional view for quality medical assistance. I have a personal interest in the importance of mental health of local residents and want to explore the importance and availability of mental health, both preventive and treatment, for all residents.

Hi just wanted to give you a brief heads up and let you know a few of the pictures aren’t loading correctly. I’m not sure why but I think its a linking issue. I’ve tried it in two different web browsers and both show the same results.
