The Communication Center is the information hub of Mercy Flights. Staffed at all times by two trained dispatchers, the Communication Center team handles all calls for air and ground transportation, while also monitoring flights en route. In 2019, our team skillfully managed over 30,000 calls working simultaneously on our radio and phone systems.
The Mercy Flights Communication Center operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our trained dispatchers work hand in hand with Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon (ECSO), Jackson County’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) to ensure that we provide the right transport to the right patient at the right time.
The Communication Center team also monitors every one of our medical flights in progress. Their careful tracking helps support communication with receiving facilities and ensure that our helicopter and three fixed-wing aircrafts are in compliance with FAA regulations.
Our Communication Center experts also skillfully coordinate requests for inter-facility flight and ground services.
